It’s that time of year again. It’s getting downright chilly out here in the mountains and already smells like snow! I hope you are all doing well this year and have been manifesting wonderful possibilities. Below is a letter from my mom regarding the Snowflakes project. Please read and forward to everyone you know! We want to make it the best year yet. With the hurricanes and such we know that giving is getting a bit harder but please don’t forget those who have been living desolate and cold way before the disasters happened. Thank you in advance and many, many warm faerie blessings to you and your loved ones.
Dear Friends,
As we all know, when the snow flies the weather gets cold, and we are all content in the warmth of our own homes. We know that we can put on our winter wear and coats to go out in the frigid temperatures. What we often forget is that in every city in the world there are children who often get up on a cold winter morning to go to school and have nothing to wear to keep them warm.
It is true everywhere, as I noticed last year at our school in a very small rural community in Utah. Kids coming to school wearing their father's or mother's coats, pants that were too short, shoes that did not fit or had holes in them. It reminded me of a story that my own mother told me several times. When she was a little girl growing up in France, she lived with her mom and dad in a small farming community in the north east. There she had 14 siblings, money was a precious commodity and so were clothes and shoes. When she was 9 years old she had to quit school because it was time for her to pass on her shoes to her younger sister. She went for awhile wrapping her feet in newspaper and gunny sacks. Anne Mary had a great spirit in her. But after a heavy snow one day, her feet were very cold and wet the newspaper and gunny sack were not enough and her teacher told her she should not come to school anymore, she would be better off staying at home helping her mother. My mother never went back to school
The Snowflakes Project is designed to give to kids in real need of winter clothes. The children are picked anonymously by the teacher who relates to me their name, age and size. They will be matched with a donor, who will do the shopping. No money is exchanged. The clothes should be new, as most of the kids we deal with have never had anything new. We will accept used clothing for our school closet to be used for a child who comes to school in need of something to wear. I know that I can't cloth all the children in the world but I can do my part right here right now with your help. We know the saying about how "Clothes make the man", well I say that clothes often mold our children at a young age, please help me in the Snowflake Project.
